“And He sent Peter and John, saying, “Go and prepare the Passover for us, that we may eat.” – Luke 22:8
When Jesus told Peter and John, “Go and prepare the Passover for us” (Luke 22:8, NKJV), they immediately asked the right question: “Where do You want us to prepare?” They didn’t assume. They didn’t plan their own way. They waited for His direction. And when Jesus gave them specific instructions, they followed—and found everything exactly as He said. This wasn’t the first time. Before the triumphal entry, Jesus sent two disciples ahead with detailed directions, and again, everything unfolded precisely as He promised (Matthew 21). Jesus was teaching them something then, and He is teaching us something now: when He speaks, His words can be trusted. When He leads, His path is sure.
Many believers feel a tug on their hearts—a nudge, a prompting, a whisper that feels like the Lord’s direction. But instead of responding, we brush it off as our own imagination. We end the conversation before it begins. The disciples didn’t do that. They didn’t tell Jesus what they wanted; they asked Him what He wanted. And because they responded, they experienced the faithfulness of His word. God still speaks today—not always audibly, but through His Word, His Spirit, His peace, and His prompting. The question is not whether He speaks. The question is whether we listen.
So what is Jesus speaking to you today? Is He calling you to move? To surrender something? To start something? To let something go? To trust Him in a new way? Or perhaps to finally receive Him as Lord and Savior? “But you shall seek the place where the LORD your God chooses… and there you shall go” (Deuteronomy 12:5, NKJV). He is still choosing places. He is still giving instructions. He is still leading His people step by step. The only question left is this: will you respond the way the disciples did?
Ask Jesus today, “Lord, what do You want me to do?” Don’t end the conversation. Don’t ignore the tug. Listen for His direction—and when He speaks, obey. You will find, just like the disciples, that it will be exactly as He said.
