Scars That Strengthen Faith

“Behold My hands and My feet, that it is I Myself. ” – Luke 24:39

After the resurrection, Jesus didn’t disappear into heaven immediately—He stayed forty more days, walking roads, entering homes, eating meals, and revealing Himself to His disciples. Yet even with Jesus standing right in front of them, they were troubled and filled with doubt. Their hearts burned within them, but they didn’t recognize Him until He reminded them of His words and showed them the physical evidence—“Behold My hands and My feet” (Luke 24:39, NKJV). The scars became the proof. The wounds became the reminder. The marks of His suffering became the confirmation that the One standing before them was truly alive.

Today, we have even more evidence than they did. We have the written Word of God, the testimony of the Spirit, the witness of creation, and the changed lives of believers all around us. Yet like the disciples, we often miss Him. Our hearts burn when He speaks, but we don’t slow down long enough to recognize His presence. We let fear, doubt, and the noise of life drown out His voice. We forget what He said. We forget what He promised. And we forget that the risen Christ is still walking with us, still speaking to us, still showing us His hands and His feet through His Word and His Spirit.

Many believers live defeated even though Scripture says we are “more than conquerors through Him who loved us” (Romans 8:37, NKJV). And many who don’t walk with Jesus feel hopeless in a world that seems to be unraveling. But Jesus is still revealing Himself. He is still speaking. He is still calling hearts to remember what He said and to see the evidence of His resurrection power. Time is short. He is risen. He is coming again very soon. The question is not whether He is speaking—the question is whether we are listening.

Slow down today and look at the evidence. Open His Word. Listen for His voice. Let your heart burn again. Whether you are a believer who needs renewed confidence or someone who has never surrendered to Christ, respond to Him today. He is alive. He is near. And He is calling you to walk with Him before He returns.

“The risen Christ is the cure for every doubt; show me His wounds, and my fears melt away.” — C.H. Spurgeon
