“As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us.” – Psalm 103:12
The psalmist chose his words carefully. He didn’t say north from south, because north and south have limits—you can reach the poles. But east and west never meet. If you travel east, you will always be going east. It’s an endless line, a picture of immeasurable distance. That is how far God removes the sins of those who come to Him. His forgiveness isn’t partial, temporary, or fragile. It is infinite.
God’s Word is clear and accessible. Proverbs 8 says wisdom cries out in the streets, calling for all to hear. The problem is never with the message—it’s with the hearer. Jesus Himself said that many are spiritually blind and deaf, unable to understand because their hearts are hardened (Matthew 13:14–15). Mark Twain once remarked, “It isn’t what I don’t understand about the Bible that worries me, but what I do understand.” He knew the gospel was simple: Christ died for sinners, and salvation requires a response. The clarity of truth demands a decision.
Today, many hearts seem harder than ever. Preachers often feel like they’re digging into ground made of steel. Scripture warned that in the last days people would reject truth, resist conviction, and turn away from God. Continued rejection leads to judgment, and those who refuse God’s grace sin against their own souls. Revelation 20:11–15 makes it clear—eternal separation awaits those who reject Christ. But for those who believe, forgiveness stretches farther than east from west.
No one is promised tomorrow. Today is the day of salvation. If you have not trusted Christ, do so now and rest in the assurance that your sins—every one—can be removed beyond measure. And if you already belong to Him, live in the freedom of a forgiveness that never circles back. Let His grace anchor your heart and His mercy shape your steps.
