“In whom are hidden all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.” – Colossians 2:3
Paul wrote these words to believers who were being pressured by false teachers claiming to possess a higher, deeper, and more enlightened knowledge than what was found in Christ. Their message sounded spiritual, but it was dangerous: Christ is good, but He is not enough. Paul responded with one of the strongest declarations in all of Scripture. Every treasure of wisdom and knowledge is found in Jesus Christ. Not some. Not most. All. There is no hidden truth beyond Him, no secret path above Him, and no greater revelation apart from Him. What God wants us to know, He has revealed through His Son.
Because Christ is sufficient, His Word is sufficient. The wisdom we need for life, discernment, godliness, peace, and direction is not scattered among human philosophies, self-help systems, or religious traditions. It is found in one place: Christ Himself. Yet these treasures are hidden from unbelief. The natural mind cannot see their beauty or value. Even believers discover them only as they walk closely with the Lord. The deeper our relationship with Christ becomes, the more we uncover the riches that have been ours all along. Intimacy with Him produces insight. The closer we walk with Jesus, the clearer life becomes.
One of the greatest temptations we face is looking for in people what can only be found in Christ. We seek approval, identity, security, and affirmation from others, hoping they will provide what our hearts need. But people were never designed to carry that weight. Human opinions change, misunderstandings happen, and approval fades. Christ alone remains constant. He alone holds the wisdom, peace, purpose, strength, and acceptance our souls crave. When we look sideways for validation, we often lose sight of the One who holds the treasures we are seeking.
Where are you looking for wisdom, peace, and approval? Are you searching through the opinions of others, the expectations of the world, or the pressure to prove yourself? Turn your eyes back to Christ. Everything you need for today—and everything God desires for your future—is found in Him. Stay close to Jesus. Keep your focus on Him. The treasures your heart longs for have been in Christ all along.
“I have a great need for Christ; I have a great Christ for my need.”
— Charles H. Spurgeon
