“I know that my Redeemer lives” – Job 19:25
The book of Job is one of the clearest pictures in Scripture showing how God can use even the darkest attacks of Satan to accomplish His divine purpose. Job is introduced as the godliest man on earth—“blameless and upright, one who feared God and shunned evil.” Yet in a single moment, without warning, his entire world collapsed. He lost his wealth, his health, and his children. He battled discouragement, confusion, and deep emotional pain. And perhaps the hardest part of all—Job had no idea why any of it was happening. He walked through the fire without a single explanation from heaven.
But we, as readers, get to see behind the curtain. We read about Satan appearing before God, about the heavenly conversation, and about the permission God allowed. Job knew none of that. He suffered without answers. He endured without clarity. If he had heard the heavenly dialogue, he might have wondered whether God was even on his side. Yet the very God who called Job “blameless and upright” still allowed the trial. This is where Job speaks to us today. Sometimes we walk through seasons where everything falls apart—relationships break, finances collapse, health fails, and prayers seem unanswered. Job teaches us that spiritual warfare is often invisible. We do not see the heavenly conversations. We do not hear the reasons. But we do know this: God is sovereign over Satan.
Satan cannot touch a believer without God’s permission, and God never permits anything He will not ultimately use for our good and His glory. Job’s suffering was not punishment—it was refinement. It was not abandonment—it was preparation. It was not meaningless—it was purposeful. And though Job could not see the purpose in the moment, God was shaping him, strengthening him, and revealing Himself in ways Job had never known before. In the end, Job declared with unshakable confidence, “I know that my Redeemer lives” (Job 19:25, NKJV). That is the faith that carries us through the fire.
When your world shakes, remember Job. God is working even when you cannot see it. No attack of the enemy can overturn the purpose of God in the life of His child. Trust the Redeemer who holds your story, your suffering, and your future in His hands.
