“And again he says:
‘Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people!’
And again:
‘Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles!
Laud Him, all you peoples!’And again, Isaiah says:
‘There shall be a root of Jesse;
And He who shall rise to reign over the Gentiles,
In Him the Gentiles shall hope.’ – Romans 15:10-12
When Paul quotes Moses, the psalmist, and Isaiah in Romans 15:10–12, he is reminding us of a breathtaking truth—God’s plan of salvation has always been for all people. “Rejoice, O Gentiles, with His people!” (Deuteronomy 32:43). “Praise the Lord, all you Gentiles!” (Psalm 117:1). “In Him the Gentiles shall hope.” (Isaiah 11:10). These voices—spanning centuries—sing the same melody: salvation is not exclusive, but expansive. Imagine standing in a massive stadium where thousands of voices blend into one powerful chorus. Different tones, different backgrounds, different stories—yet one song. That is the church. Jew and Gentile, strong and weak, all lifting their praise to the same Savior.
From the beginning, God promised that through Abraham all nations would be blessed (Genesis 12:3). Jesus came as the fulfillment of that promise—born into Israel, proving God’s faithfulness to His covenant (Romans 15:8). The Jew rejoices because God kept His word. The Gentile rejoices because God extended mercy beyond the borders of Israel. We were like drowning souls far from shore, with no hope of rescue—until Christ appeared as the lifeboat of grace. Isaiah’s prophecy of the Root of Jesse rising to reign over the nations reminds us that hope is not a vague wish; it is a Person. A starving man hopes for food, a sick man hopes for healing, but humanity hopes for redemption—and in Christ, that hope is fulfilled.
This is why unity matters so deeply. The Jew cannot resent the Gentile, for through Israel came the Messiah. The Gentile cannot resent the Jew, for through them came the promises. We are one people, one voice, one salvation. The Old Testament was never a story of one nation alone—it was the unfolding plan of God to redeem the world. And now, in Christ, we stand together as one redeemed family, praising the God who keeps His promises and extends His mercy to all.
Thank God today that His salvation reached you. Celebrate that you are part of a global family—different backgrounds, one Savior. Ask Him to help you embrace others with the same grace He extended to you. And let your life be a voice in the great chorus of praise, declaring that in Christ, all nations find hope
“The salvation of the Gentile as well as the Jew was no afterthought in God’s plan. It was foretold, promised, and looked for from the beginning; the Old Testament is full of it.”
