“He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? Who shall bring a charge against God’s elect? It is God who justifies. Who is he who condemns? It is Christ who died, and furthermore is also risen, who is even at the right hand of God, who also makes intercession for us.” – Romans 8:32-34
Romans 8:31 asks a question that echoes through every fear and doubt: “If God is for us, who can be against us?” Paul isn’t denying that people will oppose us—he’s declaring that no one can successfully stand against the plan of God. In his day, Judaizers tried to add works to grace, false teachers twisted truth for profit, and religious institutions threatened excommunication. Today, we face similar pressures—from cults that distort the gospel, to a society that wants Christ removed from the public square, to friends or family who discourage our faith. But none of these can strip away salvation. Why? Because salvation is God’s work from beginning to end. If He has set His plan in motion to glorify us, then no person—no matter how persuasive or powerful—can derail it. To suggest otherwise is to claim someone is stronger than God Himself.
But what about us? Can we sin so much that God gives up on us? Can He grow weary of our failures and revoke the gift of salvation? Paul answers with another question: “He who did not spare His own Son, but delivered Him up for us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things?” (Romans 8:32). If God gave His most costly gift—His Son—while we were still sinners, why would He withhold anything now that we are His children? God doesn’t operate that way. He didn’t spare His Son. It pleased Him to bruise Him—not because He delighted in suffering, but because He saw the outcome: our redemption. If He gave the greatest gift to save us, He will certainly give what’s needed to keep us.
So here’s the truth to hold onto: no person, no failure, no circumstance can undo what God has done. He saved you not just to start the journey, but to finish it. He set you up at the finish line, not just the starting block. Your salvation is secure—not because you’re strong, but because He is. Let that truth quiet your fears and fuel your faith. Walk confidently, knowing that the God who did not spare His Son will not spare any grace needed to carry you home. Rest in Him. Trust His plan. And live like someone who knows they’re held by the unbreakable grip of God.
“And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch them out of My Father’s hand.” – John 10:28-29
