“And if Christ is in you, the body is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” – Romans 8:10-11
The Holy Spirit is not only our Comforter—He is our Completer. Romans 8:11 reminds us that “if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you…He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit who dwells in you.” That means the same Spirit who saved you is committed to finishing the work He began. He doesn’t just redeem your soul and leave your body behind. He is the Effectual Spirit—He achieves what He starts. And this truth should stir our hearts with wonder. The God who knows the number of hairs on your head and sees every sparrow fall is the same God who promises to raise your body in glory. He doesn’t overlook the details. He redeems them.
We often think of salvation as a spiritual transaction, but Scripture shows us it’s a full transformation—spirit, soul, and body. Right now, our inner man is alive to God, seated with Christ in heavenly places (Ephesians 2:5–6), while our outer man still battles sin, decay, and death. But Paul assures us that even our mortal bodies will be raised, glorified, and made fit for heaven. Just as a seed must die before it grows into something beautiful, so our earthly bodies must be sown in weakness before they are raised in power (1 Corinthians 15:43). We won’t be floating spirits—we will have recognizable, glorified bodies, just as Moses and Elijah were seen in glory. This is not just theology—it’s hope. It’s the promise of a complete redemption.
Don’t let the mystery of resurrection become routine. The Holy Spirit is working in you now, and He will not stop until you are fully transformed. Philippians 1:6 says, “He who has begun a good work in you will complete it until the day of Jesus Christ.” That includes your body, your soul, your spirit—every part of you. Let this truth comfort you in your weakness, anchor you in your doubts, and stir you to worship. The Spirit who dwells in you is not just present—He is powerful. And He will finish the work, even more completely than you ever imagined
“What are death, the grave, and decomposition in the presence of such power as this? Talk of being dead four days as a difficulty! Millions that have been mouldering in the dust for thousands of years shall spring up in a moment into life, immortality, and eternal glory, at the voice of that blessed One.” – C. H. Mackintosh
