Financial Peace

“For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things.”

– Matthew 6:32

The knowledge of having a steady income, a permanent residence, and sustained savings leaves one feeling comforted. These comforts often prioritize our lives as they leave us with a sense of security. Ultimately what most people are searching for is peace of mind.

If we, as Christians, set out to provide for our future needs in advance, most of our time may be spent attempting to accumulate financial reserves. Reserves that, if not managed well, can be eroded by inflation, unforeseen health issues, market collapse, and any number of other catastrophic events life brings our way. As a result, God could be robbed of the actual service He had planned for us. In pursuing what the world desires, we may completely miss the purpose for which we were converted.

With all the events that happen from one day to the next, our future on this earth is uncertain. We can plan and prepare, which is right and good, yet if those preparations are our sole focus, we have missed our calling. Our pursuit should be building the Lord’s kingdom and fulfilling His call for our lives. This is why Jesus told us to seek His kingdom first. If we do, He has promised to provide us with our future needs. His Word is our guarantee bringing us more than peace of mind. It brings us peace that surpasses all understanding.

“As a disciple cares each day for the things God has trusted to him, God, his heavenly Father, cares for his daily needs.”

– Louis A Barbieri, Jr.
