“And the God of peace will crush Satan under your feet shortly. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.” – Romans 16:20
Paul ends his warning in Romans 16 with a powerful promise. This not wishful thinking—it’s certainty. The battle is real, but the victory is guaranteed. From the very beginning, God declared the serpent’s defeat: “He shall bruise your head” (Genesis 3:15, NKJV). And at the end of Scripture, we see the final scene—Jesus returning on a white horse, the armies of heaven following Him (Revelation 19). That’s us. His victory becomes our victory. Satan under His feet becomes Satan under our feet. Until that day, the warfare continues, but we are never alone. “Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world” (1 John 4:4, NKJV).
Because the victory is certain, Scripture never tells us to stare at danger, obsess over evil, or live in fear. Instead, it tells us to mark evil, avoid it, and refuse to give it our attention. Paul shifts our focus from the enemy to the truth. Philippians 4:8 calls us to fill our minds with what is true, noble, just, pure, lovely, and of good report. In other words, don’t let the darkness dominate your thoughts—let the light shape them. Paul moves from commendation to caution, and now he closes with a benediction: “The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.” This isn’t just a farewell—it’s a blessing. A reminder that grace is what sustains us, strengthens us, and keeps us wise in what is good and simple concerning evil.
Grace is how we stand. Grace is how we fight. Grace is how we finish. And grace is what carries us until the God of peace brings final victory. So hold on. Stay faithful. Guard the truth. Protect your testimony. Don’t let fear steal your focus. Don’t let evil capture your attention. Fix your eyes on the One who has already secured the outcome. The God of peace will crush Satan under your feet—soon.
Walk today with confidence, not fear. Fill your mind with what is good. Turn your attention away from the enemy and toward the Savior. Let grace steady your steps and Scripture shape your thoughts. The battle is real, but the victory is certain—and the God of peace is fighting for you
“The overthrow of Satan is not uncertain. It is the inevitable outcome of Christ’s finished work.”
